So many tears have fallen over the past few days as I have read about the senseless murders that have taken place. I’ve watched the videos over & over trying to understand why this is happening…
I can’t understand… I cry some more.
My heart is breaking…
I have family & friends that are/were police officers. I believe them to be professional & honest officers. But I also believe there are corrupt, fearful, power hungry & racist officers as well.
Officers that are scared, fearful, or that easily panic have no business on the force. You take an oath to protect us. ALL OF US. There is not a color choice.
My wife and I have been together over 2 decades. We are educated and hard working career women. We have lived from coast to coast, small towns to large cities. In all, I have seen my wife subjected to discrimination and racial profiling.
Every day my wife walks out the door to go to work and I pray for her safe return. She works late and normally returns home in the early morning hours. She has been stopped by the police on several occasions and followed home by many others. Most of the officers she has had contact with have been professional and cordial. A few have been absolutely rude, insulting and tried to provoke. No matter the situation she stays calm & does exactly what they say. She knows her life depends on it.
I may have to start taking her to and from work. It’s a sad world we live in that I have to entertain such a thought. But I am white & I have to admit that it is true… White privilege exists.
I pray for ALL LIVES. I pray for the Police Officers. I pray for Dallas. I pray for PEACE & UNITY.
Please raise your children & grandchildren to love, not hate.
If you are part of the problem, please do some soul searching.
